Kenneth McGowen

Research associate

Kenneth McGowan is a Research Associate at Separation Design Group. Kenneth attended West Virginia University, where he completed his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2005, where his areas of study included structural mechanics, finite element analysis, composite materials, and instrumentation.  During his undergraduate studies, Kenneth was a member of West Virginia University’s FutureTruck advanced vehicle design team.  In this competition, the team redesigned a Ford Explorer as a Diesel-electric hybrid vehicle.  As a graduate student, Kenneth was involved in multiple projects involving instrumentation of bridges and other structures to evaluate their performance, including the Star City Bridge, in Morgantown WV, where over 700 sensors were installed to monitor the structure’s performance.   At Separation Design Group, Kenneth utilizes his knowledge of mechanics in combination with his technical skill and craftsmanship to design, fabricate, and test the mechanical components of air separation and energy conversion devices.
