Dr. John (Jack) Halow
Senior Research Associate

Dr. Halow received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State in 1964 and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1967. He has extensive experience in multiphase flow, computer modeling and instrument development. Besides his work at Separation Design, Dr. Halow has worked at Exxon Research and Development, the National Energy Technology Lab and as an adjunct professor at West Virginia University and Waynesburg College. He has conducted numerous experimental and modeling studies of fluidization, fluid- solids flow systems and modeling of energy processes including gasification, combustion and power generation. Dr. Halow has lectured and published extensively in multi-phase flow modeling and instrumentation. He holds three patents and has authored chapters on fluidization and instrumentation in three edited books.

At Separation Design he has performed modeling studies of particle scale and vessel scale adsorption and flow dynamics. He has invented and is currently developing a unique system to determine the detailed dynamics of solids flows in fluidized beds, and other systems involving solids motions based on tracking magnetic particle tracers.
